MURRIETA, California -- PR NEWSWIRE -- Sept. 9, 2009 -- ActionView International, Inc. (Stock Symbol:
AVEW) today announced the appointment of 3-time world boxing champion Tony "The Tiger" Lopez to the company's Board of Directors. In addition to his position on the Board of Directors, Mr. Lopez has entered into a long-term agreement with ActionView International's wholly owned MatchFights, LLC
(
MatchFights.com) subsidiary to assist with the marketing and
promotion of MatchFights events (
BKBFightClub.com).
The marketing and promotion work for MatchFights, LLC is expected to include attending live MatchFights events; attending at pre-event press conferences, press junkets and related promotions; participating in media interviews about the company and its events; preparing rules and bylaws that will govern MatchFights bouts; assisting MatchFights with the sanctioning of events and the securing the rights to hold non-sanctioned events in targeted markets; consulting with MatchFights management in developing the brand, fight content, event format, etc.; and assisting the company in locating additional industry personnel to form an Advisory Board that will help promote MatchFights, develop content, and structure events.
The 5-year agreement also provides incentives based on the number of pay-per-view buys achieved by MatchFights events.
Since retiring as a boxer, Mr. Lopez has built a successful bail bonds business and recently re-entered the boxing world as a promoter.
Tony "The Tiger" Lopez was raised in Sacramento, California where he started boxing at the age of 10. As an amateur, he fought more than 100 bouts, losing less than 5. Mr. Lopez turned pro in 1983, fighting his first bout at the Sacramento Memorial Auditorium. As a pro, he compiled a record of 29-1 with 22 KO's before his first world title bout - a fight with Rocky Lockridge for the IBF Junior Lightweight belt. Mr. Lopez won a unanimous decision to become northern California's first world champion. The fight with Lockridge was named Ring Magazine's 1988 Fight of the Year
Mr. Lopez went on to defend his title three times, losing to Juan "John John" Molina, but in a rubber-match, defeated Molina for the IBF title a second time in a bout held in Reno, Nevada. Mr. Lopez later reclaimed his title a third time by beating Joey Gamache. Other notable fighters Mr. Lopez fought in his career include Julio Cesar Chavez, Jorge Paez, Brian Mitchell, and Lupe Gutierrez. Lopez completed his professional boxing career with a record of 59-8-1.
